Finished stocking & questions about Valentines Day piece :)
My geeky boyfriend moved in with me this year, and therefore kinda joined the family-My Mom and I wanted to keep my Grandma's tradition of making a Christmas stocking for each new member of the family alive by making one for Jeff this year.

First off, it was kinda sad for me because it is the very first one I've had to sew without my "Mama Ni" (as I called my Grandma), and I felt lost at times (My Mom DOES NOT SEW. Her participation was to pay for the fabric and help me pick out decorations and stuff, lol), but I finally got it finished in time for Santa to fill it with all sorts of chocolates, pecans, pistachios, and cinnamon candies.

For reference, here are the other stocking belonging to family members:

And now what we've all been waiting for-Jeff's stocking:

Full back-

Close-up of toe & heel "nice" and "naughty" patches-

I was very pleased with the outcome. It was stressful, especially trying to keep it a surprise, but it was amazing when I got to give it to him :)

______________________________________

I'm also seeking some geeky-crafty advice here as well-I am one of THOSE people-The people who decorate for EVERY holiday...So, I was thinking of stitching up a geeky valentines day piece (using counted cross-stitch) with something along the lines of: "I'll love you forever, and I will be right beside you as we look for the 7 horcruxes, as we seek to bring down the capitol, as we take on the empire, and we fight against the walkers (which I love you enough to shoot you in the head if you get bitten)..." etc. I also want to end the whole thing with "As you wish." Now, he's a gamer, and I'm not, and I'd like to include some things from his favorite games...But lets face it-I have no knowledge of these games. He loves Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Candy Crush, Farm Frenzy, and Assassin's Creed. He also loves a book series I have never read, something by Brian Lumley-I think Psychomech is the name of one of the books? I feel like I should include things that we individually like as well as things that we both like because he fell in love with the woman who loves the Kushiel's Legacy series, and I fell in love with the man who is a gamer-geek. Any advice on these things? I mean, I know my things, but I'm pretty ignorant (and happily so) about gaming, and I don't have the time to read that book series AND stitch a piece for v-day. Help is mucho appreciated!

No True. Such Permit. Very Assassins. Wow.: Assassin's Creednaamah_darling on December 27th, 2013 08:10 pm (UTC)
LOVE IT. It's gorgeous and just utterly nerdtastic! I would be proud to have such a stocking.

The only one of those games I've played is Assassin's Creed, but I'm a HUGE fan of the series, so. You could go with either "as we fight against the Templars," or you could work in something about "we work in the dark to serve the light," which is the OTHER motto that isn't "nothing is true, everything is permitted," which is not very V-Day like.

I love that his stocking is a reflection of him-Mine was made when I was a baby, so there's not much there of me, lol. But I love reindeer, and those are on my stocking, and I actually added one on his stocking because I love him too, and I thought that was adorable.

I love the suggestion of as we fight against the Templars"! I think that's the one I have decided to use. :) Thanks!

Can't offer any decorating/crafting advice, but your stocking turned out great.

I agree with the first poster regarding the Assasin's Creed games, go with one of the first two quotes they posted! (Apologies for reading their post and immediately forgetting who they are and what the quotes were lol)

With regards to Rock Band and Guitar Hero - why not one (or two) quotes that mean something to him (and/or you) from songs that you both like? It may be that they're not on the games (although Dragonforce Through the Fire and the Flames is on Guitar Hero 3 and my husband and I love that one so you could look at the lyrics for that if it's along the lines of what you're looking for) but if it's a song and he loves it then it'll work whether it's on the game or not (I'm a gamer and it always annoyed me that songs I love weren't on there lol)

For Candy Crush I can only suggest having the writing that you do surrounded by a border of candys - I bet you could google image the game and be able to transfer to cross stitch without too much trouble. Farm Frenzy I don't know, but if you've got loads of what you both love on there already then I would say you don't need to add everything :D

Don't forget to post on here when you're done! This geek wants to see it!! And kudos for the stocking you've sewn all by yourself for the first time, it's beautiful! And I cried at the Christmas Special. Goodnight Raggedy Man.

I like the candy crush idea. I'm sure I can find different candies online to get an idea of what they look like for drawing out the pattern, and I've already decided to use "as we fight against the Templars", as suggested above by naamah_darling.

And although this may be a bit TMI, I am wondering if you know of any song on any Rock Band/Guitar Hero that could be considered to have a slight BDSM flair to it? That's a pretty big part of our lives, and I'd love to incorporate it in with the song as well.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have a great knowledge of BDSM, but here are some suggestions for you to mull over!

Killer Queen
More Than A Feeling
Black Hole Sun

They're the ones on the actual games that seem most appropriate to me. Hope that helps! :D

Thanks. I posted this on fetlife too and got a few other as well. Now I just have to chose which one to use!
