I made another pokemon doll recently. Hardest part on this one had to be the spots, lots of fiddly hand sewing, but I love the result.

Okay, you guys have never steered me wrong before, and I come to you again with a question about video games. Some close friends of mine and I are getting together for a party (Mainly so I can introduce my friend Mandy to my awesome boyfriend Jeff), and they're wanting it to be Rock Band themed. Not a gamer, but I love to watch...plus we're playing cards against humanity, so I'll definitely have something to do, what with my horrible sense of humor and all...anyway, I did a google image search for "rock band party foods" and "guitar hero party foods", and came up short. There's not much out there-I found one that I like, and am including it below, but am hoping you guys could help me-I'd rather NOT make a full sized cake since everyone in my circle seems to prefer cupcakes (I found a really cool cake image), and I got a request for a 7-layer dip...so I know I'm making that, but any ideas that you guys have are VERY MUCH WELCOMED. VERY. MUCH. WELCOMED.

Google wasn't very much my friend this time-I need more than just ONE picture!Collapse )

This is the first draft of my geeky Valentines Day writing for my boyfriend and I. Here, I have bolded every reference to geekdom, and if you have any questions, or suggestions, please let me know. the entire thing will be centered on a piece of fabric when I stitch it, but I was too sleepy/lazy to do that here, so keep that in mind.

Please, if you have any suggestions, this is just a first draft, and I would love to hear them. Thanks again!

On with the clicky, clicky!Collapse )

My geeky boyfriend moved in with me this year, and therefore kinda joined the family-My Mom and I wanted to keep my Grandma's tradition of making a Christmas stocking for each new member of the family alive by making one for Jeff this year.

First off, it was kinda sad for me because it is the very first one I've had to sew without my "Mama Ni" (as I called my Grandma), and I felt lost at times (My Mom DOES NOT SEW. Her participation was to pay for the fabric and help me pick out decorations and stuff, lol), but I finally got it finished in time for Santa to fill it with all sorts of chocolates, pecans, pistachios, and cinnamon candies.

I think Mama Ni would be pleased.Collapse )

I'm also seeking some geeky-crafty advice here as well-I am one of THOSE people-The people who decorate for EVERY holiday...So, I was thinking of stitching up a geeky valentines day piece (using counted cross-stitch) with something along the lines of: "I'll love you forever, and I will be right beside you as we look for the 7 horcruxes, as we seek to bring down the capitol, as we take on the empire, and we fight against the walkers (which I love you enough to shoot you in the head if you get bitten)..." etc. I also want to end the whole thing with "As you wish." Now, he's a gamer, and I'm not, and I'd like to include some things from his favorite games...But lets face it-I have no knowledge of these games. He loves Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Candy Crush, Farm Frenzy, and Assassin's Creed. He also loves a book series I have never read, something by Brian Lumley-I think Psychomech is the name of one of the books? I feel like I should include things that we individually like as well as things that we both like because he fell in love with the woman who loves the Kushiel's Legacy series, and I fell in love with the man who is a gamer-geek. Any advice on these things? I mean, I know my things, but I'm pretty ignorant (and happily so) about gaming, and I don't have the time to read that book series AND stitch a piece for v-day. Help is mucho appreciated!
